What Is A Blue Jay

Blue jays are vibrant birds with blue feathers on their wings and tail, and white and black markings on their bodies. They have a crest on their heads that they can raise or lower. Listen for their loud “jay jay” call, which sounds like they’re saying their name!

Diet

Blue jays are omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals. They love to eat nuts, seeds, berries, insects, and even small animals like frogs and mice. Blue jays are clever birds! They stash food in secret places to save it for later. Sometimes they hide it underground or in trees.

Where Can They Be Found?

Blue jays are common in forests, woodlands, and parks. They like places with lots of trees, where they can find food and build their nests. Blue jays build their nests in trees using twigs, grass, and sometimes even paper or string they find.
